

PHLEBOTOMY
The field of Phlebotomy continues to expand and the role of this health care team member has recently been brought into much sharper focus. The Phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team, whose main function is to obtain patients blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection. The increasingly high amount of laboratory blood testing performed each day; the aging population and the national shortage of registered nurses have caused a dramatic emphasis on the need for highly trained Phlebotomists.
Prior to graduation the student will be eligible to challenge the National Healthcareer Associations certification exam, "Certified Phlebotomy Technician", CPT.
